LinkedIn has long been the default platform for B2B advertising, but it's becoming increasingly difficult for marketers to reach buyers at the moment genuine intent emerges. This is why brands are increasingly considering Reddit.
Speaking with MediaPost, MTM's Paid Media Team Lead, Reno Hughes, explores why Reddit is one of the most underused and undervalued channels in B2B marketing today.
People may think Reddit is just a space for niche interest communities and consumer forums, but it is actually an extremely valuable platform for marketers, as professionals openly discuss challenges, evaluate and compare solutions and seek advice long before seeking out a sales team to speak to about whatever issue they want to resolve.
A different kind of buyer insight
Instead of platforms where people are identified by their job title and place of work, Reddit tends to surface problems first rather than people explicitly identifying themselves as buyers for specific solutions. These are very early-funnel conversations when people are very early in the awareness stage, which can give marketers real insight into buyer intent.
For B2B brands, this gives a unique opportunity to understand the language, frustrations and decision-making processes of their target audiences long before they enter a formal sales journey.
Why Reddit deserves a place in the B2B media mix
Relevance is hard to come by in a landscape where audience attention is increasingly fragmented.
Reddit enables brands to engage buyers through communities built around specific interests and challenges, providing insights that can shape everything from audience targeting to creative messaging. Unlike broader social platforms, success comes from understanding the conversation first and building campaigns around genuine audience needs.
