Oil Spill Response (OSRL)

A next-level website for a global leader Digital Development

The brief

OSRL is a global industry cooperative dedicated to oil spill preparedness and response. For 40 years, OSRL has supported members across the oil and gas industry and other key organisations, delivering tailored preparedness and response solutions to mitigate the impact on communities and the environment, responding to 400+ oil spills worldwide.

With a refreshed brand identity, attention was turned to the brand’s digital presence with the main focus on the website, which was no longer fit for purpose. MTM was tasked with the design and build of a new digital platform that not only tells the OSRL story with clarity and authority, but also delivers a seamless, user-centric experience for a global audience.

The challenge

OSRL’s existing website failed to position the organisation effectively, not reflecting its global scale or the breadth of its service offering. Crucial information was hard to find, and the user experience fell short of modern expectations. So, it was important the new website supported OSRL’s members effectively in an evolving energy landscape and was futureproofed.

The solution

MTM executed a website relaunch focused on clarity, usability, and scalability with key initiatives including:

A new site architecture strategy

The new site architecture strategy for intuitive navigation with a streamlined menu and clear pathways, enabling seamless user journeys and helping OSRL’s diverse stakeholders quickly find and understand its offerings.

A clearer portfolio for their complex service

OSRL's complex service portfolio was broken into distinct, accessible sections, highlighting each service area from preparedness to response with equal prominence.

Headless CMS implementation

The website was migrated to a headless CMS (Optimizely), improving flexibility, site speed, and scalability through a decoupled architecture, allowing OSRL to consistently deliver fast, reliable content across multiple channels and devices to its global audience.

Results

Three months after the new website was launched, it delivered stronger digital visibility, deeper user engagement, and a solid foundation for future growth. It ensures OSRL’s expertise is positioned front and centre, supporting its mission to protect the environment by connecting people with the knowledge and services they need.
