Creating an Interactive, Educational Tool for a Global Association

Creating an impactful, audience-centric tool for lasting engagement

To bring fertiliser education to a broader audience, our goal was to create an experience that would make complex information accessible, engaging, and memorable. From the start, we envisioned an interactive, educational journey, a tool that would spark curiosity, provide clarity, and highlight the essential role of fertilisers in global food security.

Our approach blended education with interactivity, creating an experience that felt approachable for everyone, from policymakers to the general public. Through a 3D-designed interactive map, users can engage with “hotspots”, each offering a deeper look into key facets of fertiliser use, its sustainability, and its impact on food production. By developing the tool as a dynamic, evergreen asset, we built something that can live beyond International Fertiliser Day, continually updated to educate new audiences and expand the reach of the IFA’s message.

Our creative strategy for the project focused on adding playfulness and discovery elements, ensuring users would enjoy exploring the material while understanding its significance. We collaborated closely with IFA throughout, working together on everything from the initial sketches and wireframes to final animations. Our open approach ensured the tool reflected the actual questions and concerns IFA's audiences face, whilst still being visually engaging and optimised across devices.

The result? A digital asset that’s as visually compelling as it is informative—a piece that meets IFA’s objectives by transforming educational content into an immersive experience. Post-launch feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with users appreciating the interactive, accessible format that brought complex topics to life.

“It was great to work with MTM on our Fertiliser 101 project. From the outset, the team understood what we were trying to achieve and were able to add creativity and playfulness to the final product, while maintaining an appropriate brand look and feel for IFA. We’ve had excellent feedback since launch and look forward to seeing how the page will evolve in the future.” - Claire Newell, Director, Communications & Marketing
