MTM was pleased to be part of the 40th SPE Offshore Europe Show held in Aberdeen at the beginning of September. The four-day show was attended by in excess of 63,000 professionals from the offshore industry, an increase of over 25% on the event held in 2011. Over 1,500 organisations were exhibiting through the six exhibition halls, which covered an expansive 27,217 metres squared – the equivalent of eight football pitches!
On stand 3E85, MTM were offering a unique, totally free website UX or User Experience report and a pot of strawberries to all visiting and exhibiting businesses!
The sun shone and the weather was balmy which was a drastic contrast to the previous show in 2011 with its deluges of rain. But the weather wasn’t the only thing lift people spirits – everyone was extremely positive about the activity and the continuing success of the UK’s Oil and Gas Industry’s future production and strong supply chain. The sheer scale and magnitude of this year’s event reinforced Aberdeen’s position as a centre for oil and gas expertise. However, the show did come just two weeks after the tragic Sumburgh helicopter crash, where four people tragically lost their lives. The Princess Royal who attended the show were one of many to pay tribute and reflect on the ongoing issues surrounding the industry in regards to safety.
Vasyl Zhygalo, Senior Exhibition Director at Reed Exhibitions, said the 40th anniversary of the event had been a fantastic success. “Our conference and exhibition have been successful in equal measure. There has been an outstanding line up of top industry speakers from global operators and service companies and from the government with standing room only at many of the key addresses and presentations. We’ve also been overwhelmed at the response from exhibitors many of whom have been queuing to sign up for 2015. The show has reinforced Aberdeen’s position as a centre for oil and gas expertise which is exported globally and we have welcomed delegates and visitors from all around the world.”
Jeanette Forbes, CEO of PCL Group is a regular visitor to the show and enthused, “This year has been the best Offshore Europe I have ever been too. I think the calibre of exhibitors and innovative products on display has been a credit to our industry.”
